Jason Rountree has been part of this community for over 25 years, working tirelessly to make it a better place. Over the last two decades as a police officer, he has envisioned different ways to increase protection, improve the quality of law enforcement service and respond to new challenges we face as a community. As Sheriff he will see this vision a reality.
Jason Rountree knows the value of being connected. Resources are vastly multiplied when we strengthen our numbers in unity. Jason has developed a plan to create stronger networks within the framework of law enforcement and the community it serves. That's why he is running for Suwannee County Sheriff. Help him secure a better tomorrow for Suwannee County, today.
Jason Rountree can win this race to Sheriff with your help. He is confident that his reputation among other law enforcement officers and the community he has served will speak for itself. Become a part of the team. Door-to-door, word-of-mouth, and donating are all ways of helping us achieve our goals together.
Jason Rountree continues to serve his community in untypical ways as a police officer. He has made a career of trying to find new and innovative processes to better law enforcement's impact on our community. Jason was instrumental in bringing "at the touch of a button" access of Nation-Wide Law Enforcement data base records and technology to Suwannee County. He brought evidence submission and tracking automation up to date with bar code scanning and network logging. Jason established the first online Pawn Shop registry in Suwannee County which enables law enforcement real-time access to information. He has formed partnerships with Tallahassee Police Department, Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, and others to introduce new levels of crime fighting techniques in bio-facial recognition and investigative tools like "Car Fax" for investigators. Jason began writing and coordinating program operations early in his career. He attended hundreds of hours of specialized training for Drug Enforcement, Investigations, K-9 Operations, and
Self-Defense. He is currently one of two firearms instructors for his department.
Jason Rountree became a police officer in 2001. He began his career at the Live Oak Police Department more than two decades ago and continues to serve his community there today. Jason Rountree's career speaks to his conviction to pursue greater goals on a regular basis. Since he entered law enforcement, he has held nearly every position within the department, including those beyond law enforcement, like animal control and main office duties. He became a supervisor of the patrol as a Sergeant in 2003 and continued to excel to a Detective, Lead Detective, Patrol Lieutenant, and Captain of Police. As the second in command in his department he still accepts and takes on investigative casework. He acquired specialty assignments such as K-9 Officer, Criminal Justice Information Service Terminal Agency Coordinator, Local Agency Security Officer, and Falcon Administrator for the department. He manages the agency's audits for multiple services and outer agency applications. He serves today in the capacity of Evidence Custodian for the department and oversees training, grant writing, and budget preparation. Jason Rountree is a Certified Instructor with The Florida Department of Law Enforcement and teaches "in service" as well as North Florida College, as an adjunct instructor. He has received numerous awards including "Officer of the Quarter", "Officer of the Year" and many other awards, accommodations, and community recognitions. As Sheriff he will take that drive to a whole new level.
As both a police officer and a family man he participates routinely in community-related events and charitable programs. He has volunteered countless hours of his personal and family time to teach RAD KIDS Personal Empowerment Safety Education, Law Enforcement Teen Academy, Online Predator Awareness and Prevention, and many other similar programs. He serves his community as a Broadband Committee member under Suwannee County Commissioners as a Suwannee County Local Technology Planning Team member. As a Christian, he and his family have attended Westwood Baptist Church for 25 years. He serves as a voting board member of the Florida Baptist State Board of Missions. He has traveled the world on missions including a police exchange through the IMB in Belgium in 2003 and 2005. He volunteers in the position of Men's Ministry Director and Deacon of Westwood Baptist Church in Live Oak. He teaches a Sunday School class and is involved in four different small groups. Here, on a daily basis, he is encouraged, learns, and is held accountable to become a better person. As Sheriff he can put these experiences to task for the entire county.

Agency Mentality and Mission.
It all starts with an interest to improve our community, a heart committed to the task, and a will to see it done! The overall goal is to create a bigger but less intrusive footprint within the community to strengthen law enforcement capabilities while maintaining proper fiscal responsibility. Using force multipliers we will increase our strength by a better division of geographical deployment, and response, as well as multi-tasking members, to increase productivity and diminish downtime through duplication. Through a long-term goal of cross-section training, we will construct an organizational layout with employees and assignments that fit this mindset. The short-term goal of the agency is measurable progress toward success. The long-term goal is better morale, better or more shared resources, and better trained and better-paid personnel. It must include well-rounded individuals who are encouraged to specialize in their own gifts but attempt to become balanced in every avenue of policing. It will include a renewed look at budgeting and maintenance for proper stewardship of the county's assets.
Through redeveloped zones of deployment, systematic issue targeting, and goal-oriented operational activities.
